Our History

We became a California corporation in 2002, but the foundation of our company has been in development for three generations. Our patriarch moved to the Coachella valley in 1960 and began building a reputation for dependability, honesty and quality workmanship; he instilled those same morals and work ethics into us, the third generation of installation specialists. Through long hours of hands-on-training and hard-earned-experience, those old fashion beliefs became our own strategy for success.

Jerry and Mike are master journeyman installers of most floor covering products and also have a vast knowledge of general construction as well as many exotic floor covering and custom products. This has allowed them to stay hands-on in all aspects of the company and has allowed them to personally train many of their installers, some who have now worked for The Works for just as long.

After spending nearly thirty years in the flooring business, working on their own individual jobs, Jerry and Mike joined forces to work together on the larger more complicated jobs, they have become masters of their trade. Eventually, it became clear that they should permanently pool all of their individual resources to incorporate and start building their own business. So, that’s what they did.

At our heart we remain a referral-based business, depending on our good reputation and long lasting relationships with our clients to insure future business through referrals and repeat customers. One of our greatest strengths is our experience and product knowledge, we have always welcomed a challenge and will always step up to difficult or unusual jobs, especially jobs that others cant or wont do. All of our installers, workers and laborers are employees and on payroll and the few sub-contractors we use, we have known and worked with for many, many years.

The Works has been servicing the Southern California, floor-covering industry since the 1960s, fulfilling roles as contractors, journeyman and master-mechanics as well as estimator’s supervisors, specifiers and business owners. We hold C-15, C-54 and B licenses, which we have earned through experience, in addition to ongoing education, seminars and certifications. Rusty has crossed trade boundaries and gained an extensive background in all aspects of construction and General Contracting, but we are not alone in our endeavors to build a unique and complete flooring-covering, design-center and installation service company. Our team consists of many other knowledgeable experts who we feel represent some of the greatest assets of this company.
